Roundstone News 22nd May 2006

Swallows:
Just before we go into the news, I saw right in front of my gallery window between 18 and twenty young Swallows, scattered all over the ground just flitting around as if they were eating some thing, they almost looked sick but were able to fly with great ease, and they were very unafraid of me, the most extraordinary thing about it that it has now been two days just flying around the same area, and what’s more one of them was caught by a kestrel right in front of me, it just swooped down and grabbed one. I wonder what the reason was for this?

Community Radio:
The Connemara Community Radio 6th Annual Walkathon is taking place on Saturday the 10th & Sunday the 11th of June. This is Connemara Community Radio’s main annual fundraiser and the money raised is used towards transmission costs which are in excess of €12,000. Our target is to raise at least €10,000.The walk will take place over two days and the route will cover more than 30 MILES approximately 10 hours of walking road, track and mountain. If you would like to join the team of walkers and can raise €300 in sponsorship give Gráinne a call at the radio on 41616. Walkers are now in the process of raising sponsorship for this walk and we hope that you will support the walkers in their efforts to raise the €10,000. Connemara Community Radio would like to thank Acton Construction Clifden for their generous support by being the main sponsor covering the walkathon expenses. So this walk is important, I have done it for the last 5 years, any spare few euros to reach my target, I would be very grateful to receive this for this important and worth while cause
