Musical Table Quiz: Just to keep the village alive, last Friday the Shamrock hosted Johnny Sheehan’s musical Table quiz with DJ Mike as the quiz master, this was not a fund raiser for any thing pacific, it was just for fun the table monies was shared amongst the winners. I was not there unfortunately but I am told it was a great evening
Tim Robinson’s Connemara: A note for the diary this Friday there is a film and Reception of Tim Robinsons Connemara in the lower community Hall at 7pm, this is a screening which is part Tim’s Connemara symposium in conjunction with the Galway University titled “In Conversation with Tim Robinson” every body is welcome and it is totally for free
Cruinniú na n-Iomróirí: As tradition dictates at the end of each sea rowing regatta year a venue is selected for the gathering of the Oarsmen for men’s, ladies and for the under 18’s rowing races, Roundstone Harbor for the first time ever was selected as a venue to hold this event which will take place next Saturday 1oth September, how it works is that those who wants to compete have to register at 1pm, then eventually all registered names go into a hat, then teams of three ors are pulled out. At 8pm same day dinner at the Roundstone House Hotel followed by dancing to the music of Foidin Mara. Tickets for the Dinner Dance are €25 they are limited, just contact Michael King 087 6738198 to book early to avoid disappointment
Champion of Champions: Next Sunday 11th September 10am is the Champion of Champions pony show with Connemara Ponies drawn from the 2011 shows held all over Ireland. A cash prize of €2,000 for the Champion, €500 for Reserve Champion. Then a parade through the village of Roundstone of all the class winners, this should happen around six pm. Irish nights: Last Wednesday was the last of this years Irish nights, terrific turn out for the last one, in fact through out the summer there was a great turn out for this very popular event, Christina had really excelled with her choice of musicians and Dancers for the last show, then there was a reception afterwards to end the season of Irish nights. Well done Christine and to your team of volunteers throughout the summer.
RIP: Our condolences to Josephine Mannion on the passing of her mother, Mary Davis from Dolan Mary was buried in Gurteen just a few days ago. All we can really say is that may she rest in peace, and of course our condolences to all the Davis family members
