Adult Education;
Registration will take place for anybody who wants night classes as part of the North West Connemara Adult Education in the lower community Hall 8pm to 9pm, 27th September. Richard will have the registration forms, and please note the fees need to be paid in full to secure a place.
One of the classes is a cookery class with Kieran O’Shaughnessy chef with E.J. King, commencing on the 12th October for eight weeks, but we would need a minimum of five, and this will take place in the kitchen of the Roundstone lower community Hall.
Condolences;
Our condolences to the immediate family of John Price who passed away last week and was subsequently buried in Clifden, John spent a good few years in Roundstone. May John rest in Peace.
We were also sadden by the death of Paddy Conroy, Paddy passed away Saturday, he will be coming home today Monday and will be brought to the church for the funeral mass at 12pm Tuesday and eventually on the same day buried in Gurteen. Paddy was quite a character and will be missed around the place, he was always there, larger than life, sadly now he has gone; he was an extraordinary man that kept very much to himself, a hard worker right to the end. Talking to him it never ceased to amaze me of his knowledge of the area, and its people, it’s truly an end of an era, and it’s just typical that we never recorded his story of his bygone years. To all his immediate family, please except my sincere sympathies and of course on behalf of the village’s their condolences. May Paddy rest in peace
Car Boot Sale:
On the 30th October, there will be as a fund raiser for the Tidy Town’s fund a car boot sale held on the tennis courts, the cost will be €15 per Car, so there is plenty of time to collect up all the items you do not need for the sale. Between Ann and my self we will keep you up dated as the arrangements unfold that same week end i.e. the 29th October we will be holding a Race night in the Shamrock Bar in aid of Community projects with the help of RDC.
Wedding:
Congratulations to Stephen Bobby King’s son Stephen Jr and to Miss Conroy who were married on Saturday in Roundstone in the Star of the Sea church, long and happy married life together.
Cooking apples:
If any body wants any cooking apples please come and help your self, they will be in a wheel barrow outside the front door of Errisbeg House, they are not so good this year for some unknown reason, but it is still a pity not to pick them up, such a waste, mind you, I saw two badges ferreting around the ground for the apples. So please just help your self, or you can just pick your own.
Garda Barracks:
I heard on Galway Bay Fm that the fairly new Garda station in Roundstone is going to closed down, I feel we should not let this happen considering some years ago we fought for a Garda station, now the powers that be want to take it away, and leaving us potently without any Garda, yes, you might say its hardly used, and there are no Garda, but it is great to have it as a barracks, just to let people know that at times we do have a Garda presence’s and for administration purpose’s.
