Annual spring Clean up: This week end we had the annual spring litter clean up around the village and the beaches sponsored by Galway County Council, and An Taisce of their bags etc. Unfortunately very few volunteers as usual, however with the national school kids, i.e. Mikey Ryan, Dillon King, Allan & Cian Conneelly and Lee Anne King, a mighty job was done, My thanks to Patrick McDonagh of the Shamrock, and Pious and Paul Delappe, always ready to help, with his truck to collect all the bags that were filled on Gurteen and Dogs Bay, in total some where around eighty bags all told and loads of large plastic containers etc, and also can not forget to thank Pat Mullen and Mary Theresa King and the two strangers Paul and Ruth who were staying at the Ballinahinch, they got wind of the clean up and came as part of the adult team, so we thank them as well, also to Tommy Sullivan, community warden in arranging for the collection of all the bagged rubbish which is stacked at the Dogs Bay Car Park. The local lotto also gave a donation to reward the kids, for their efforts with the clean up i.e. some drinks and food, so we thank the lotto committee for that.
Roundstone National School: To day, the Roundstone National School have been informed that they will receive the Schools Green Flag; this is really good news, so congratulations and well done to all the children to teacher Ashling Ryan, Emer O’Regan and Principle teacher Mehall McDonagh, and I am sure the kids parents played a part in one form or another. I am told the green flag will be presented and the recognition made official at a later date.
Lotto: Still no winner, the lotto for next week now stands at 12,200, the Draw for the first time next week will be for the first time at Eldon’s Hotel with the new managers, for an Easter Bumper Raffle, which reminds me talking about Easter, and the lotto, my thanks to the lotto committee for their donation toward the Easter Egg Hunt at My place on Easter Monday 25th April, even though with this donation, If any parent has left over eggs from the Sunday, perhaps they would donate them to have them as extra for the hunt, I seem to always run out on the day.
Country Market: Finally, delighted to tell you that the country Market will re open as from next Sunday 17th April every week until the end of the summer from 11.30 to 4pm, just for the next few Sunday’s the market will be held in the community Hall car park, until such time the play ground passage way to the tennis courts is completed.
Thank you for reading, such as it is. Have another great week, keep smiling.
