The Removal of the Roundstone ATM:
A meeting concerning the septic tanks: Was held in the Roundstone Community Hall on Thursday last and it brought a lot of concerned home owners out on that cold night. Padraic Conneely
Apologise for no news last Monday but there really was nothing to relate as all the events that had happened in December was broadcasted up to the New Year the week before. Having said that, there is still not a lot of news to relate, however the various committees that we have in place in Roundstone are not sitting on our laurels in preparation for the forth coming season.
Well, here we are in the year 2012. I am not sure about anybody else, but I for one am quite glad to get back to some sort of normality, but hey! Don’t get me wrong I loved every minute of the celebrations, but enough is enough and to get my life back on track. So let’s just to go back to the last week of December, as there was no broadcast that Monday of St Stephens Day leading up to the New Year we started with:
Well this is the last week before Christmas Day, certainly the buzz is building, and I am certainly feel the buzz, never mind the so called recession, but having said that it can also be a sad time and this is something apart from the fun, we should keep in mind for all those that are suffering at this very moment.
Garda Barracks:
We have just been informed that 32 Garda stations will close in the country and we are glad to say that the Roundstone Garda Barracks will not be one
Observation: Just before I go into the news, just an observation to relate to you, just five days ago I had in the garden a bumper mass’s of holy berries, this morning not a single berry left, I wonder what that is a sign off, they say that it is a sign of a hard winter to come, that’s one point, even more strangely if not eerie , for quite some time now, I have not heard or seen any of the small song birds, around the garden, which is very unusual in my grounds, even by putting out some food to tempt them back, which as I say is odd for the gardens of Errisbeg, I just wonder if any body else out there has noticed the lack of small song birds around your garden.
Apologise for not giving the news last Monday, but after a very busy bank holiday weekend with all the events that took place, and the cleaning up afterwards, just could not get around to getting my act together.
Once again the news is a little scarce; I have not really tried to seek it out news this week, as I / we are much more focused on important issues concerning Roundstone / Connemara of which you guys across the water please have a voice concerning the Garda Barracks, and would like to have your comments
Not a great deal of news this week, as things have become very quite here in Roundstone, well apart from the weekends there still is a bit of activity.
Registration for the evening classes with the north west Connemara adult education took place last week and am glad to say that one of the classes providing we had at least five students is a cookery class demonstration with Kieran O’Shaughnessy, chef with E.J. King, will be commencing on the Wednesday of the 12th October 7pm to 9pm for eight weeks, there are still a few more places should anybody want to avail of this cookery demonstration
Monty Hall’s great Irish escape:
Well, we saw the last episode last Thursday of Monty’s escape; it was a great one, really showing the west in its full glory, with no exception with Paddy shoulders very prominently working with Monty. The last time I saw Paddy on the TV was with the Children’s program the “Tweenies”, this was certainly a better step up the ladder to stardom, good job Paddy
Tidy Towns competition 2011 Adjudication Report:
It seems now, the summer season is slowly winding down, I suppose thank goodness the weekends at least still give a bit more life to the village.
Golly what a wet week, I am still surprised that there are still the amounts of visitors that are still around. I think the good lord was on our side with this wet weather in one way which was to our advantage as we got wind some time ago of an invasion young teenagers on face book who caused havoc in the village last year, and as predicted a good few arrived. The gardai were well prepared this time to make sure last years performance would not be repeated, the gardai confiscated alcohol and sent quite a few packing, checked cars and bus’s and more importantly, made their presence really felt. What is the matter with these young? And where are their parents? It just seems that family unity is loosing its grip some how. On behalf of the village, let it be known the gardai, did a good job, well done, and we thank them for this difficult situation that could have been quite volatile.
It is August and Roundstone is bursting at the seams. It is such a shame that we can’t spread it about a bit more evenly but that’s life. We have all the usual faces around and it is really lovely to see them, I am sure they feel like it is home from home, Lot of them having second homes here or mobile homes or even taking the same holiday rentals houses from year to year. We have some lovely people in our midst and long may it last.
Its been a strange week in Roundstone visitors wise, very up and down, through out the whole weekend, however the week end saw the
It’s been a very mixed and eventful week, what with the release of a seal on Dogs Bay on Saturday that was found in the month of May between Murvey and Dolan with rope around its neck that had buried it self around its throat, however thanks to the help it got from the Dingle wild life and Seal sanctuary, the said seal made a complete recovery and was released. Two beached whales were found off Innishlaken Island, however that also ended well, with a big high tide, they were able to be floated off, thanks to a rescue team, I am assuming it was the Irish whale and Dolphin group using the newly acquired Pontoon monies that was raised from Monty Halls great escape filming in Connemara last year.

Roundstone was busy this week end. Listening to the comments of the business’s it seems this bank holiday weekend was better than last year, which is some thing
